About the guides
Editorial policy.
The FedResume guides exist to answer one question well: what does HR need to see in your application, and how do you show it truthfully? This page explains how they are made.
Sources first
Rules come from primary sources: the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) — its qualification policies, qualification standards and hiring guidance — the Code of Federal Regulations, and the announcements published on USAJOBS. Guides about a job series are written from the announcements open on USAJOBS on the day of writing, and say so with the date. Every guide lists its sources at the end.
How guides are written
We use AI tools to research announcements and draft guides from those sources. Each draft must stay within the facts in its source material: drafts that state rules, figures or dates not found there are rejected before publication. The guides never invent examples presented as real people; sample resume lines are labelled as examples.
Editing and corrections
The guides are edited by Claudio Romanazzi. When a rule changes, the affected guides are updated and show the new date. If you find an error, write to [email protected]; corrections are made as soon as they are confirmed.
Independence
FedResume is an independent service, not affiliated with USAJOBS, OPM or any federal agency. The guides are free and are not written to sell: where our tool helps with what a guide describes, the guide says so, and that is all.
What the guides are not
They are not legal advice and not a promise of any hiring outcome. Each agency's announcement is the final word on its own job: read it in full before you apply.
